According to the morning bulletin issued by the Union ministry of health and family welfare, India recorded 37,379 new Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, up 10.75 percent from the previous day. According to media, the increase marked the country’s largest single-day increase in coronavirus cases since early September.

With 33,750 new infections recorded on Monday, India has seen an increase in the daily Covid-19 case count for the seventh straight day. The cumulative tally in India has now reached 3,49,60,261, according to the health ministry’s report. The active caseload has been increased to 1,71,830 cases, accounting for 0.49 percent of all cases.

Meanwhile, 1,892 cases of Covid-19’s highly transmissible Omicron form have been reported in India. With 568 and 382 infections, Maharashtra and Delhi remain the biggest contributors. Kerala, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu are among the top ten states most affected by the variation, with over 100 infections so far. According to the health ministry’s bulletin, Telangana, Karnataka, Haryana, and Odisha are among the top ten states in India.

In the last 24 hours, 124 more Covid-19 fatalities have been reported, one fewer than the day before, bringing the total death toll in India to 482,017. The only bright spot in the latest data is the increase in new recoveries, which rose to 11,007 from 10,846 on Monday. The overall number of people who have recovered from the virus is now 3,43,06,414 people.

So far, 68,24,28,595 samples have been tested for Covid-19 across the country, with 11,54,302 samples examined in the last 24 hours.

In addition, India’s Covid-19 vaccine coverage has topped 146 crore, with over 57 lakh adult eligible individuals receiving vaccination in the last 24 hours. Vaccination for those aged 15 to 18 years old began on Monday, and the first dosage of the coronavirus vaccine was given to 42,06,433 people on the first day. In the previous 24 hours, 99,27,797 vaccination injections have been administered to all qualified recipients.

Meanwhile, the steady increase comes at a time when India is dealing with the Omicron outbreak, which has resulted in limitations in various states and union territories, including Maharashtra, Delhi, and West Bengal, among others. On Saturday, the Center advised states and UTs to begin erecting makeshift hospitals to improve bed availability and to form special teams to assess home isolation cases.

To accommodate patients with mild to moderate symptoms, the government has been requested to investigate employing hotel rooms and other such accommodations in conjunction with Covid-dedicated institutions.
