The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Tuesday ordered the immediate shutdown of all enterprises that have not shifted to cleaner fuels in industrial zones despite their availability in order to tackle the air pollution threat in the national capital region (NCR).

Violating industries/industrial units will not be allowed to function until December 12, 2021, according to the committee, after which the order will be reviewed for future decisions.

Furthermore, the Delhi administration stated that the restriction on trucks entering the city, with the exception of CNG and e-trucks and those transporting vital supplies, will remain in place until additional instructions are issued.

According to the CAQM, preventive actions are urgently needed to prevent further deterioration in air quality. CAQM’s Flying Squads will conduct special drives and inspect facilities to guarantee compliance, according to the statement.

It stated that “strict execution of the commission’s directives must be ensured and strictly monitored by the respective state governments and the Delhi government.”

The CAQM voiced worry in an official statement about the ‘very poor’ air quality in the capital and the NCR.

“Despite the initiatives made in various sectors to improve air quality in Delhi-NCR, air quality remains in the ‘very poor’ to ‘severe’ category,” the report stated.

According to the commission’s November 11 directive, all gas-connected companies in the NCR must function only on gas, or the businesses will be closed.

It was also ordered that all industries in the NCR with gas connectivity be converted to gas immediately, with state governments providing industry-specific dates for conversion.

According to the System of Air Quality and Weather Forecasting and Research, Delhi’s air quality remained in the’very poor’ category on Tuesday, with an overall Air Quality Index (AQI) of 314. (SAFAR).

According to SAFAR, PM 10 levels in the’moderate’ category were recorded at 150, and PM 2.5 levels were reported at 81 in the’moderate’ category.

Noida and Gurugram’s air quality remains in the’very poor’ category, with AQIs of 325 and 317, respectively, in the two satellite cities.
