The union government on Wednesday sought names of five representatives from the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha for the committee to be formed for the Minimum Support Price (MSP) Guarantee Act. However, the farmers’ organization will first hold a meeting and then will decide on these names on December 4.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the organization will hold an emergency meeting in the afternoon hours at Kundli Border. During the meeting, the farmers are expected to strategize the movement. In the official statement issued on Tuesday, the SKM had clarified that the farmers would not leave the protesting sites till all of their demands are met.
Not only SKM but other 32 farmers’ organizations of Punjab and Haryana have also said after a meeting that they will not go back to their respective states with unfulfilled demands.
Meanwhile, Rakesh Tikait, National Spokesperson of Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) at UP Gate, said that rumours of protesters’ return were being spread. “We will not go without the law on MSP and the return of lawsuits against farmers. Nihangs involved in the movement will also decide to return only after consulting all the sangats”, Tikait said while talking to media. Meanwhile, Nihang Baba Balwinder said that he is talking to all the sangats.
Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) leader Dr Darshanpal said that the Center on Tuesday sought five names from the SKM for the committee considering the MSP issue, but we have not decided on the names yet.
“We will decide the name on December 4. We have proposed a meeting of all the constituent organizations of the front on December 4 and will also discuss the various points which have been raised in the letter to the Prime Minister and the decisions to be taken in the future regarding the welfare of farmers through farm policies”, SKM leader said.
